RSS Participant at Ballybay Wetlands Centre
The Ballybay Wetlands Centre and Deryvalley Farm was established in 1998 as an environmental educational and organic farm. The centre offers environmental training with its eco-train programme, a wide range of schools field programmes, eco-tourism packages, coarse fishing facilities, bird watching and a fully equipped ICT suite.In November 2009 the Ballybay Wetlands Centre were successful in acquiring the services of one Rural Social Scheme participant, Mr Thomas Mc Guirk. His duties at the centre are mainly maintenance weeding, cutting back briars on pathways for safe access to visitors, planting hedgerows, maintenance of angling stands, maintenance of compost boxes, maintenance of outdoor furniture benches and tables along the walking trails, care of polly tunnels, cleaning and maintenance of tools, resetting wild life cameras, daily baiting of wild life bait prints, closing and locking gates after visitors and detecting incidents of water pollution.
